Okra Medical Names John Stas as Chief Medical Officer

JOHNS ISLAND, SC, March 2019 – Dr. John Stas has been named chief medical officer at Okra Medical, the company today announced. He will be responsible for leading the company’s scientific research, product testing and innovation.

Dr. Stas has dedicated his career to serving people in need. He is an expert in the field of regional anesthesia and acute pain management. During his 20 years of service as an active duty military officer, he led anesthesia departments in practice improvement and expansion. He also spent 10 years in civil service as an anesthesia leader and developed a state-of-the-art pain management practice for combat casualties. Dr. Stas has functioned as the clinical coordinator and adjunct faculty for the University of South Carolina Anesthesia Program. He also holds a faculty position at Twin Oaks Anesthesia where he lectures on advanced regional anesthesia techniques and ultrasonography.

Dr. Stas graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina, and received a master’s degree from the U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia, and a doctorate degree from Texas Wesleyan University.
